The Shoulders of Saturn 1975

“To meet the commitments made by this administration; to exploit the technological achievements of the Apollo programme and the moon landings, last year NASA ordered 15 new launch vehicles of the updated Saturn I type.

“I stand in front of you today to announce that I have directed construction to begin on eight new Saturn V boosters. In the next two decades, as we learn to live in space, and perhaps even travel to Mars, we shall do so on the shoulders of Saturn.”
